Training and Experience

Training

Dr Ibrahim Imam completed his basic medical training at the University of Ibadan in 1989 and specialized in Internal Medicine and Neurology. He obtained Fellowships of the Nigerian and West African Postgraduate Medical Colleges in 2000 and later completed the Diploma in Clinical Neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery at Queen Square, London. Additionally, he holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Simulation and Patient Safety from the University of Plymouth.

Experience

Dr Ibrahim Imam has been a Consultant Neurologist since 2009. His areas of expertise include neuropathies and neuromuscular disorders, as well as a broad range of neurological conditions such as migraines, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, and sleep disorders.

Dr Imam is a published author of three books:

  • 700 Essential Neurology Checklists
  • Surfing the Brain: An Exploration of the Fringes of Neurology
  • Human Factors and Patient Safety: A Primer for Doctors and Medical Students

He has also contributed a chapter to the Oxford Handbook: Headache – A Practical Manual and has published over 30 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals.

Dr Imam runs The Neurology Lounge Podcast, manages the online neurology database titled Neurochecklists, and curates the book review blog titled The Doctors Bookshelf.
