Dr Eddy Ferrufino Rivera is a Consultant in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine who has been practising in Ireland since 2015.
He completed his specialist training in Respiratory Medicine in Spain in 2013, followed by a Master’s Degree in Clinical Research. He was also awarded an International Master’s Degree in Sleep Medicine, reflecting his advanced training and specialist focus in this field.
Dr Ferrufino has gained broad clinical experience working in both public and private hospitals in Ireland. His clinical work in Sleep Medicine has focused particularly on sleep-related breathing disorders, including obstructive sleep apnoea and obesity-related hypoventilation. He also has extensive experience managing sleep disorders associated with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis, and interstitial lung diseases.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Ferrufino has been appointed as an Associate Professor at University College Dublin (UCD) and is actively involved in medical education and training.
He is a member of the Irish Thoracic Society, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and the European Respiratory Society.

Dr Ferrufino has significant experience in the investigation of unexplained breathlessness, chronic cough, and respiratory muscle weakness, combining detailed clinical assessment with evidence-based diagnostic pathways.
In addition, he has developed strong expertise in the management of patients with co-existing cardiovascular and metabolic conditions linked to sleep pathology, taking a holistic and multidisciplinary approach to long-term care.
